Can’t make it to an event for the Outdoor Skills? Have no fear! Your girl can earn the patch on her own by following the suggested requirements that will be posted in each event. Just fill out this form after completing the requirements for each activity.
Didn’t get your patch at the event? Just fill out this form.
Didn’t order a patch set? No problem! She can still participate! Once the series is done, and if patches are still available, another order can be placed. Here is a list of who ordered:
Tent Pitching Requirements
This one is quite simple – pitch a tent!! If you don’t own a tent, but have helped pitch one at a campout, just explain the process of pitching a tent.
Things to remember:
- Clear the area of rocks, sticks, and debris – use the designated tent site for the camping area to avoid deteriorating surrounding vegetation
- Use a ground cloth under your tent. This keeps the bottom of the tent cleaner and prevents ground moisture from seeping through the tent floor.
- Follow the tent instructions – designate a person responsible for reading the instructions while the tent is set up.
- A rain fly is not just for rain. It also protects the inside of the tent from dew! You don’t want to wake up damp from the morning dew.
- Stake it down! Be sure to secure the tent to the ground with stakes. This will keep it from blowing away in higher winds. If the stakes won’t push in easily, use a hammer or rock to pound them in.
